Associate Professor Liu Benmin is a distinguished faculty member at the College of Transportation Engineering, Tongji University, where she holds a Ph.D. in Highway and Railway Engineering. She has served as a visiting scholar at the University of Tennessee and the Southeast University Traffic Safety Research Center. As an active member of several professional societies, she is a member of the China Highway and Transportation Society, an individual member of the World Road Association, and a member of the Shanghai System Simulation Society. Her work focuses on interdisciplinary research and teaching in the fields of road safety engineering, risk control and management, vehicle engineering, and meteorological engineering.

1.Road Safety Engineering: Integrating disciplines such as vehicle engineering and meteorological engineering, this research focus explores safety measures in complex road conditions. It aims to develop innovative solutions and strategies to enhance the safety of transportation infrastructure and vehicle operations under varying environmental challenges.
2.Vehicle Engineering and Driving Simulation: Utilizing driving simulation technology, this area of research delves into the dynamic behavior of vehicles and driver behavior under different meteorological conditions. The goal is to advance the understanding of how weather affects driving and to inform the design of safer vehicles and driving practices.
3.Traffic Safety in Catastrophic Weather Conditions: This research interest centers on theoretical studies of traffic safety during extreme weather events and the development and optimization of management systems to mitigate risks and ensure the continuity of safe transportation operations.
4.Risk Control and Management: The development and application of risk assessment models are crucial in identifying and mitigating potential hazards within transportation systems. This focus area aims to enhance the resilience of transportation networks and contribute to the overall safety and reliability of the transport sector.
