Dr. Tian is currently an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Traffic Engineering, Tongji University. His research focuses on transportation planning and management, traffic demand management and network modelling and simulation, etc.
Dr. Tian obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Arizona in 2015 and his Ph.D. dissertation was on the topic of developing a computational efficient dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) software. He was involved in a handful of academic projects related to developing DTA applications for large-scale regional networks and those projects were funded by FHWA, APRA-E, TxDOT, Arizona DOT, etc. He has published 20 academic articles including 6 journal publications, including 5 SCI indexed journal papers. Besides, he has been serving as the reviewer for a handful of international journals.
Dr. Tian joined Metropia Inc. soon after he obtained his Ph.D. degree and served as the traffic data analyst and traffic management center lead since 2015. Aside from the daily operation of the company, he developed an interest in the realm of Active Transportation and Demand Management (ATDM).
